How do I get Google Fiber in Austin?

Is Google Fiber still expanding in Austin?

Google Fiber has continued expanding in Austin and opened a retail space in South Lamar in March for customers, which adds to its downtown office. The company also launched 2 gigabit internet service in Austin last year and has expanded to new areas including Allandale, North Loop, Mueller and North Shoal Creek.

How do I request Google Fiber?

To sign up for Google Fiber:

  3. If you’re eligible, follow the on-screen instructions to start the sign-up process. You’ll choose your plan, agree to our terms of service and enter a payment method.

Does Google Fiber require a deposit?

We sometimes charge a deposit (usually $10) when you sign up for Services. We will only do so if we disclose the deposit to you when you sign up.

Is Google Fiber being discontinued?

Google Fiber TV announced in February 2020 that they’re going to stop selling their conventional TV service altogether. Existing customers have been able to still use their TV service since then, but the service will end sometime between February and April 2022.

Why is Google Fiber getting rid of TV?

Traditional TV is expensive and outdated, so we’re working to upgrade our customers to streaming options, and will ultimately retire Fiber TV in all our markets. (Don’t worry, current TV customers will get 90 days notice before their plan changes!)
