What is the difference between the Ibanez JEM and Jem Jr?

The Jem Jr is simply an RG450 in disguise. It has exactly the same specs and hardware, but it costs $100 more. You are paying $100 more for the inlay, monkey grip and the Lion’s claw. Basically some stickers and a bunch of holes.

How can you tell a fake Ibanez JEM?

If you are seeing it in person, you’ll know right away that it’s fake. Otherwise, the trems on fakes tend to have screw-in arms, while the Edge arms are push-in. If the 555 is old, it would have a Lo-TRS, that says “Ibanez” on the side of the trem – fakes don’t have that.

What does Ibanez JEM mean?

precious
a jem is something ‘precious’. the name was started by steve’s friend Joe Despangi, who made custom JEM guitars for steve WAY before he was famous. Steve loved them so much, he carried th name with him to ibanez.

Is a JEM JR any good?

Starting with clean sounds, the JEMJR is perfectly pleasant. The single coil in the middle is my favorite for an all-round sound that could do anything. But, you can push it towards the bridge side for funkier sounds, or over towards the neck for something a bit bluesier.

What Bridge does a Jem Jr have?

The JEMJR Steve Vai Signature packs Ibanez’s standard double-locking bridge, which helps you maintain your tuning stability even after heavy pitch bends. Guitarists at Sweetwater know that a whammy bar is only fun when your guitar stays in tune, and a double-locking bridge goes a long way towards achieving that goal.
