Does using a release change your draw length?

Release shouldn’t affect draw length. You set your draw length to achieve proper form, and then you anchor differently per release. I personally use two or three different wrist releases, 3 handhelds, no changes in DL.

Does a thumb release help with target panic?

While switching to a back tension release or thumb activated trigger will not cure target panic, it will provide an opportunity to learn a new technique and what proper shot execution should feel like.

How much does draw weight affect a bow’s performance?

The change is usually gradual and not always immediately noticed, but over time the draw weight changes, the draw length changes, arrow speed is affected, nock travel is affected, the bow doesn’t shoot smoothly, and hand shock, recoil, and even noise levels can increase. If nothing else, peep sights and nock points move higher.
